According to reports, Apple is planning to integrate the proximity sensor inside the “Dynamic Island” area, which includes the pill and hole cutouts at the top of the display, in its upcoming iPhone 15 series.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple industry analyst, shared on Twitter that the proximity sensor in the iPhone 15 series will be placed within the Dynamic Island area, unlike the iPhone 14 where it is located below the display.
The proximity sensor detects when the user holds the phone up to their ear and shuts off the screen. However, it seems that under-display Face ID will not be featured on an iPhone until 2025 or later due to technical issues, according to display analyst Ross Young.
The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to not have this feature, with the earliest possibility being on the iPhone 17 Pro.
