According to recent leaks from reliable sources, Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature that will enable users to interact with AI chatbots directly within the app.
Alessandro Paluzzi, a well-known leaker, shared screenshots on Twitter, revealing Instagram’s plans to introduce AI agents as part of the chat experience. These chatbots are expected to offer answers to user queries and provide advice, with users being able to choose from a selection of up to 30 different personalities.
Paluzzi’s tweet stated, “Instagram is working on bringing AI Agents to your chats for a more fun and engaging experience. AI Agents will be able to answer questions and give advice. You’ll be able to choose from 30 different personalities.”
Although the exact timeline for the release of this feature on Instagram remains uncertain, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the establishment of a dedicated product team for generative artificial intelligence in February. This move underlines the company’s commitment to advancing AI technologies.
Furthermore, in a bid to compete with Twitter, Instagram is also gearing up to launch a micro-blogging text platform by the end of June. Known as either “P92” or “Barcelona,” this new text-based app will offer similar features to Twitter’s format, according to Lia Haberman’s ICYMI Substack newsletter.
Integrating AI chatbots into Instagram’s messaging system has the potential to revolutionize user interactions and open new avenues for personalized assistance and engagement. By leveraging AI agents, the Meta-owned platform can provide users with automated responses and guidance across various topics and scenarios, enhancing interactivity within the app.
As Instagram continues to explore the integration of AI technology and prepares for the launch of its text-based app, users can look forward to more diverse and engaging experiences within the Instagram ecosystem.
