Reliance Jio, India’s leading telecom operator, has launched 5G services in 3,636 cities and towns across 36 states and Union Territories in India, making it the first operator in the country to do so. However, only eligible Jio customers with a compatible 5G device can access the network.
Jio 5G Coverage Extends to More Cities
According to the latest update on Reliance Jio’s website, the company’s 5G network is now live in 3,636 cities and towns, an increase of 547 new cities from its last update. In April, the network was available in 3,089 cities, up from 2,691 cities before.
Eligibility to Access Jio’s 5G Network
It is worth noting that only eligible Jio customers with a compatible handset can experience the 5G network. Jio has reported that millions of users across hundreds of cities are already using its 5G network.
Experience Jio’s 5G with Welcome Offer
Jio’s 5G network promises faster internet speeds, lower latency, and a seamless digital experience in 5G-enabled cities. Eligible users will receive an invitation to try the Jio Welcome Offer, which offers unlimited data at speeds of up to 1 Gbps+ without any additional charges. However, according to reports, Jio’s unlimited 5G services are currently under scrutiny by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Jio’s Additional Services
Apart from 5G services, Jio has also introduced several new plans to cater to its users’ needs. In March, the company launched “Jio Plus,” a set of Postpaid Family Plans that allows a family of four to share data and benefits. Additionally, Jio introduced a new home broadband “Back-up Plan” in the same month that provides 10 Mbps speeds, with an option to upgrade to 30 Mbps or 100 Mbps.
Jio’s Plans for the Future
Jio has announced that by December 2023, its 5G network will reach every town in the country. This move is expected to revolutionize India’s telecom sector and provide millions of users across the country with a better digital experience.
