Apple’s yearly practice of discontinuing some of its older iPhone models will continue with the launch of the iPhone 15 lineup. Tom’s Guide recently published a report highlighting the models that could be on their way out after the launch of the 2023 iPhone.
The iPhone 12, which is already three years old, is expected to be discontinued and replaced by the iPhone 13. Apple typically doesn’t support older phones for long, so this isn’t surprising.
The current flagships, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, are also expected to be discontinued once their successors are released. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will continue to be available but may see a price cut, which is another common practice after the launch of new iPhones. The last iPhone on the “to be discontinued” list is the iPhone 13 mini.
Since the mini lineup has been around for some time, it makes sense for Apple to stop producing it. However, there are chances that the iPhone 13 mini may stick around for a little while longer as a small phone option. Even if Apple discontinues these iPhones, they will still be available through third-party sellers until stocks last.
More information will be available once the iPhone 15 series launches in September. The lineup is expected to include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, all of which will see significant upgrades.
The new iPhones are rumored to have a USB Type-C port, Dynamic Island, and several other features. The Pro models will likely have design changes, as well.
