Buying guide: what to look for
Processor and software support
The chipset decides how smooth the phone feels after two or three years. Prefer phones that promise several Android updates and security patches – it matters more than a small spec bump.
Display
An AMOLED panel with 90–120 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling feel smoother and shows deeper blacks. For outdoor use, higher peak brightness helps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery usually lasts a full day. Check whether a charger is included in the box and how fast it charges.
RAM and storage
8 GB RAM is comfortable for most people; 6 GB is fine on budget phones. Pick at least 128 GB storage if you shoot a lot of photos and videos.
Camera
Megapixels alone don’t tell you much. Look at sample photos and videos on YouTube – especially in low light – before deciding.
